Academy Riding Stables

4 El Paso Boulevard

Enjoy the natural splendor and serene landscape of the Garden of the Gods Colorado. See this natural wonder as our ancestors did a hundred years ago-on horseback.

The whole family will enjoy Colorado horseback riding, guided by real cowboys who will point out some of the interesting red rock formations of the Garden of the Gods Park including; the Sleeping Giant, Snakehead Rock, Kissing Camels and SiameseTwins.

Whether you are an experienced horse back rider or just a beginner, Academy Riding Stables has a horse suited to your abilities with Colorado guided horse back riding in the Garden of the Gods Park. One and two hour horse back rides are available throughout the summer months and after Labor Day through Thursday before Memmorial Weekend you can enjoy a perimeter ride (approx. 3 hrs.) around the outer edges of this beautiful 1400 acre park. We also offer Colorado pony rides for kids ages 2-7. They are approximately 15 minutes long.  The stables are open year around except on Thanksgiving and Christmas days.

Academy Riding Stables of Colorado is not affiliated with the Air Force Academy. Horse Back Riders must be at the stables 45 minutes before ride times.

I absolutely loved my time here. My mom and I were doing a road trip and this was definitely the highlight of our trip. The stables are very accommodating to everyone and the staff is very kind. All of the horses are very well cared for and loved. We did have to do a one hour ride instead of a two because of all the rain, but we were called a day in advance and were refunded the difference. I would totally recommend and come again.

This Company is horrible, they just canceled my horse back ride two hours before we were scheduled to leave. The lady called my from Academy Riding Stable saying we needed to be moved to tomorrow, unfortunately we leave tomorrow so that is not possible. She said the horses were sick and having problems. I asked if others were riding today and she told me they were. So what this tells me is we were bumped b/c of others off our ride two hours before the scheduled departure. If others are riding today and your horses are sick how could you possible move me to tomorrow, are horses only sick for 24 hours? I was then told if there is lightning we would also have to be canceled..... it's a perfect day, no lightning, how does that help. Absolutely ridiculous, clearly they didn't care to check who could be moved as I was told we had to be canceled... again we were bumped for someone. This was the highlight for my kids for this vacation, horseback riding through Garden of the Gods, we booked this long ago, I would never book a reservation with them, do so at your own risk. If I could give them a negative rating I would...... PS, as I read through the reviews this is clearly a pattern as Pheadra S was also canceled two hours before their ride. Your answer is not acceptable and not the way the call went.... For the record I have never written a good or bad review. I chose to call you back as opposed to continuing a conversation with you where I was ready to get irate. Somehow you chose us today to cancel and not others...., no your not sorry nor is it acceptable to notify me two hours in advance after having traveled here from out of state. Continue to pick and choose your clients.... I'm sure your ride reviews that are positive are because of the beauty of the ride and not the way that you run your company.

This place is amazing.....we went twice during our week long stay. The wranglers are so friendly and helpful. I have truly fallen in love with horseback riding. Riding a horse through the Garden of the Gods is an experience you will never forget. This is a must-do when visiting Colorado Springs.

Awesome experience riding through Garden of the Gods! The horses looked healthy and beautiful. The guides and ranch hands were knowledgeable and helpful. I wish they had opportunities to dismount for photos. The two hour ride is a lot of fun!

Make sure you arrive early for the safety talk. They really go out of their way to make sure that you're well suited for the horse. Plenty of opportunities to take breaks. Just make sure you wear jeans and sunscreen. My family and I had a AWESOME time riding through the park.
