Academy Riding Stables

4 El Paso Boulevard

Enjoy the natural splendor and serene landscape of the Garden of the Gods Colorado. See this natural wonder as our ancestors did a hundred years ago-on horseback.

The whole family will enjoy Colorado horseback riding, guided by real cowboys who will point out some of the interesting red rock formations of the Garden of the Gods Park including; the Sleeping Giant, Snakehead Rock, Kissing Camels and SiameseTwins.

Whether you are an experienced horse back rider or just a beginner, Academy Riding Stables has a horse suited to your abilities with Colorado guided horse back riding in the Garden of the Gods Park. One and two hour horse back rides are available throughout the summer months and after Labor Day through Thursday before Memmorial Weekend you can enjoy a perimeter ride (approx. 3 hrs.) around the outer edges of this beautiful 1400 acre park. We also offer Colorado pony rides for kids ages 2-7. They are approximately 15 minutes long.  The stables are open year around except on Thanksgiving and Christmas days.

Academy Riding Stables of Colorado is not affiliated with the Air Force Academy. Horse Back Riders must be at the stables 45 minutes before ride times.

Unfortunately during my ride, it stormed with lightening and hail. I expected the guide to cut our ride short in light of safety concerns due to the lightening. He did not. We rode the typical route. The horses were anxious. I am very experienced with horses but had concerns. When the weather was nice though, the ride was beautiful. The horses are very well trained.

We took about an hour riding and it was one of the best experiences that I have had in a long long time. We paid $55 for an hour of really fun horseback riding. Out of all of the places that I have been they have the best and funnest staff to work with. We went through about 5 blocks of small town houses. The tour guides lead you through the "Garden of the Gods" park, and they explain all of the rock formations better than the websites do. They also explained how Colorado Springs became to owning the "Garden of the Gods". This is the perfect place to take your family or to take someone on a date.

Took my nephews on the 2 hour ride. It was their first time on horses. We all LOVED it. The horses were so sweet. The wranglers were so nice and funny. The office did mix up our first ride (we made online reservations and somehow they didn't know until we got there AND had filled out forms and gotten helmets on and adjusted that they were short 2 horses. This was actually quite an ordeal for 2 young boys who were here for spring break and had been looking forward to their opportunity to ride a horse). Luckily they could accommodate us the following day and our schedule could be flexed as well. It was worth the effort to make it happen. It was their favorite part of the trip. They declared it the start of an annual tradition. 🐎❤🐎

I was very disappointed in the service. First of all they told my husband in front of my family he could not ride due to his weight. There are NO weight limits on the web site. Then 2 women obviously heavier than him were mounted up and able to ride. They split my family group up and while my group had a good ride the other family members had a terrible ride. Their guides were rude and not helpful at all. Never again!!! We came along way for a great experience and didnt get it. Very unprofessional.

This was an amazing experience. My wife talked me into doing this and I'm glad we went. We booked the hour ride and it was really fun, and the views were spectacular.
