9 Fun Things to Do on New Year’s Eve in Colorado

Royal Gorge Railroads New Year’s Eve Dinner Train, Canon City, CO

Romance is in the air and on the train as it chugs up the gorge, across the famous hanging bridge and over the Arkansas River. The on-board first-class dinner features a fixed-price three-course meal for people 21 and older! The bar car is fully-stocked with wine and beer, as well as a wide-range of spirits for exotic holiday drinks. Sit outside in the open-air car and soak up the beauty of this Grand Canyon of the Arkansas River.

New Year’s Eve at Copper, Copper Mountain, CO

Say goodbye to 2018 at this winter playground. Kids will help light the way to the new year in a Glowstick Pageant. A torchlight parade illuminates the mountain, guiding participants to an evening of musical entertainment. Before the fireworks show, enjoy a moonlight dine and ski activity. Head up the mountain on the gondola for a gourmet meal and take part in the ticketed Moonlight Dine + Ski New Year’s Eve. Festive giveaways and sweet treats handed out throughout the day.

Gasoline Lollipops New Year’s Eve at the Fox Theatre, Boulder, CO

Music is the agenda for an evening of revelry at this preeminent live music club, voted one of the best venues in the country by Rolling Stone Magazine. Gasoline Lollipops, an alt-country high energy band kicks off the evening. Next in the line-up is Grant Farm, an Americana-music centric group, followed by River Arkansas which plays a distinctive mixture of country, blues, folk and Americana. You’ll be stomping in the new year!

New Year’s Eve Party at Headwaters Center, Winter Park, CO

This sustainable, off-the-grid, solar powered facility will be taxing its power source with a New Year’s Eve musical bash. Sing in the new year with the Grand County Blues Society and boogie down with Josh Hoyer and Soul Colossal. You’ll be jammin’ to blues, soul, funk and R&B all night. A full bar with light snacks will be on-hand for purchase. Pop the cork and enjoy a free Champagne toast at midnight. Tickets for purchase are available online.

New Year’s Eve Extreme Rodeo Challenge at The Ranch, Loveland, CO

Yeehaw! Spend the evening cowboy-style at the Ranch’s Budweiser Events Center. Rodeo events include favorites like saddle bronc and bareback riding, bull riding and bullfighting, as well as mutton-bustin’. Freestyle bullfighting pits rodeo athletes against 1,300-pound animals—a challenge for both the bull and the cowboy. Once the events are over, the party begins with live entertainment ’til 1 a.m. in the new year.

Mac Lethal - New Year’s Eve Bash at Mesa Theater, Grand Junction, CO

American hip hop artist, rapper, producer, songwriter, radio host and author, Mac Lethal performs at what is being billed as the biggest party in town at the town’s vintage Mesa Theater. Known for his lightning-fast rap and roguish sense of humor, his show is free-wheeling and high energy. Those 21 and older get complimentary champagne at midnight for a toast to the new year!

White Rose Gala at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Denver, CO

You’ll have a rip-roaring time at this 1920s themed soirée. Channel F. Scott Fitzgerald’s golden era and dress up in elegant style. Flapper girls, ballroom dance exhibitions, and a host of other performers create an extravaganza throughout the complex. Join in the dancing, hang out in the speakeasy or simply enjoy the evening. This fabulous event is for those 21 years and older.

New Year’s at Purgatory Resort, Durango, CO

There’s a lot happening on the last day of the year, here. Kids, ages 2 months to 10 years, can hang out at the slope-side child care center where they’ll play games, watch movies and eat dinner and snacks, all the while grown-ups are having a buffet-style dinner at Hoody’s right next door. There’s a torchlight parade down the mountain and a spectacular firework show that lights up the night sky. Dance after the fireworks to live music at the Night Rail Jam event.

The Burroughs - Superfly Moxi’s New Year’s Eve, Greeley, CO

What better way to ring in the new year than with music. The Burroughs, a nine-piece band, has a powerhouse sound steeped in the sweet sounds of soul with their added signature modern flair. The evening is for those of all ages. VIP seating can be reserved, which includes the benefit of a tasty selection of hors d’oeuvres. Champagne toast for everyone as the clock strikes midnight.
