Join us for the 57th Annual Memorial Day Parade!
One of the city's longest running traditions, Colorado's largest Memorial Day Parade, brings thousands of community members together in the heart of Commerce City each year. Prior to the parade, the city hosts a Memorial Day Ceremony at Veteran's Memorial Park to honor those who have given their lives in service to our nation.
Parade Grand Marshal:
George Marshall Eastman
U.S. Air Force, 1967-91Grand Marshal 1
George Marshall Eastman’s wife of 55 years says he was destined to become a U.S. Air Force pilot.
The details of his birth read like a movie script: He was born on D-Day, June 6, 1944, in Independence, Kan. His father was a U.S. Army Air Corps pilot who was about to ship off for World War II. He was named after then-Army Chief of Staff and eventual U.S. Secretary of State Gen. George Marshall. But everyone called him (and still calls him) “Jug,” a nickname of the P-47 Thunderbolt fighter plane that his father dreamed of flying.
